It was an entertaining season for sure! It is a coed league and Caleb's team was made up of 4-5 year olds. The daughter of my coworker Antoinette was the lone girl on his team. One thing that made the sport so appealing was that they play and practice just one day a week. So not a huge time committment for us and little chance of Caleb getting burned out.
| Caleb was so excited to get a trophy after his last game! |
| Papi got to watch him play on Father's Day. |
Caleb was lost at first. He would just stand in the middle of the field while the other kids were running around him. This drove Blake crazy! And then he ran the wrong direction every single time it was his turn to carry the ball. And by wrong direction, I mean into other games or just plain backwards. Too funny! My friend's daughter was equally amusing and Caleb spent a lot of his time chasing her!
But each week, Caleb seemed to understand a little better. He listened to his coaches and got along well with his teammates. My parents each came to a game and Caleb was sure to wave from the field. Elizabeth enjoyed watching the kids and could always be heard saying "GO! Cay-teb!" I am not sure if Caleb will want to play again next year, but he has plenty of time to think about it. I have to say I am proud of him and happy that he did so well with his first sport.
