Bringing the zoo to the zoo!

The rain finally let up enough to visit the Cincinnati Zoo!  I had promised Caleb that when we had a day without rain I would take him and Elizabeth to the zoo.  I have taken him every few weeks every spring and summer since we have a membership.  Friday we invited Megan, Julia and David to come along with us.
I loaded up the van with our 3 carseats Thursday evening and installed one of Meg's carseats the next morning.  Quite a sight to see the back of my van filled with 4 carseats and 4 little ones!  We had a rocky start to our adventure, as Julia, David and Elizabeth were all crying for part of the 15 minute drive.  Megan and I just went along with it.  What can you do?!

Climbing up to see the baboons.

Gorillas!

With David and Elizabeth snug in our Ergo carriers, Caleb on the Sit N Stand stroller and Julia bravely walking, we were off. We managed to see the rhino, gorillas, the manatee house, flamingos and zebras before we took a lunch break. The sun actually came out and the day turned out to be pretty nice. After lunch, we finished our zoo trip by visiting the reptile house and the world of insects. Caleb insisted we visit the "bugs!" Julia surprised us all by walking almost the entire time. Elizabeth was quite the sloth and slept in the Ergo. Caleb narrated our visit, telling us about the animals. Our trip wouldn't be complete without a group trip to a "family restroom." With 3 fluffy butts to change and one 3 year old in undies to keep dry, you have to visit the bathroom!

Sweet Julia
Overall, our trip was a success.  Of course, having a great friend to brave the public with made it easy.  As the weather gets warmer, Megan and I will have to plan more adventures with our brood.

I'm glad you posted on my blog so I could find yours. I can't believe how big your 2 little ones are! They are so beautiful :)

(I'm rarely on myself these days... when kids start moving I think we have less discretionary time :p)

Love seeing the pics of the kids having fun at the zoo!

I finally got on the blog scene! Kate might the blog since she teaches that age group, because I'm reviewing books for young adults.
