Mother's Day with Mimi

Saturday after naptime, we packed up to visit Judy, Blake's mom. It had been a little while since we had seen her, so I thought it would be a nice Mother's day tribute to make the drive. Unfortunately, Caleb did not want to sit in his carseat. He is usually pretty good in the car and just talks and plays. Oh my goodness! He threw the worst fit and screamed bloody murder for almost an hour. It was horrible. Blake got pretty frustrated and lost his temper. That meant I had a fuming husband and an inconsolable toddler to deal with. It was not fun. Even with me sitting in the back with him, offering him juice and snacks, Caleb was still not happy. He is teething again, but this was different from any other fits he has thrown. I wondered if there was anything else wrong with him. I will definitely keep an eye on him.
Judy was happy to see us and Caleb was back to his happy little self once he could run around again. He chased her cat and dog around the house. Mimi had a little shark squirtgun for him, but he was more interested in the candy dish of Skittles that she had. We met Blake's grandparents at Outback for Judy's Mother's day dinner. We feared the worst for Caleb's behavior after the previous outburst. We were pleasantly and thankfully surprised when he was fine. He scarfed down some mac-n-cheese and enjoyed my salmon and steamed veggies. We left his juice at Judy's so he got Hi-C in his sippy. I made sure to brush his teeth extra good after all of the sugar. Dinner was as nice as it can be with a toddler. Halellujah! The visit was nice and Caleb was awake, but quiet on the drive home. It amazes me that he will not sleep on long car rides like that even when he is tired. I fight it the whole drive! It was a long, but good day. More Mother's day celebrations to come as we are going to spend the afternoon at Kate's house today.

I am so sorry about your car ride! We have had lots of trouble in the car before. We invested in a portable DVD player, and that has actually really helped our long car rides with a baby video.
