Big brother Caleb and his little sister Elizabeth.

During the course of my pregnancy, I tried to prepare Caleb for the baby that would arrive at the end. We read books about babies, played with baby dolls, and even got to meet some real newborns- Keaton and David. Caleb has always been interested in babies and talked about his baby sister coming to our house. It is amazing what his little mind was able to understand.
My Dad kept Caleb during my labor and delivery until after his nap. My parents brought Caleb to the hospital the evening after Elizabeth was born. He was so excited to see Mommy, Daddy and his new sister. He ran to me right away. I was surprised by how much I had missed him and how big he suddenly appeared! He didn't pay too much attention to Elizabeth at first, but once we asked him if he wanted to hold her he was very excited. With the help of the boppy pillow, Caleb sat with Elizabeth in his lap like a pro. It was so sweet to see my big boy hold my newborn baby girl. My world right there...my heart..my little loves.

Caleb has continued to be a loving big brother and is learning to share his parents with Elizabeth a little more each day. He loves to show Elizabeth his toys and we read to her now too. He picks out which color of diaper she should wear and even helps me nurse her by sitting next to me. He is a little posessive of his little sis and introduces her as "My baby sister, Lizbeth" to everyone that comes to visit.
