Yesterday Blake turned 27. That sounds a little old to me! After student teaching in the morning, Blake came home for lunch and to get ready for a job interview! Blake was bummed after only having a job offer in the Cincinnati public school district, but thankful to have something. So many schools are actually cutting positions right now. All year, he had been counting on taking his mentor's position as he is retiring at the end of the year. But Lakota is on a hiring freeze. Somehow, the principal pulled some strings and a half time position has been created. This is what Blake interviewed for! He will more than likely coach football and track which will be a little extra money and then he can sub as well. I am so proud of Blake and how hard he has worked to become a teacher. He has been juggling school, student teaching, fatherhood, being a husband and taking care of the house. I am glad he has reached his goal. I am a little bummed that I will not be able to cut back to 24 hours a week myself. I was really looking forward to being able to do more at home in regards to cooking, keeping up with the housework and just spending time with Caleb. I hate to be selfish, but I have been the main provider for the entire time we have been married. 4 years!! I am ready to step back and put more energy into being a good wife and mother. OK, now that I have gotten that off my chest!
Caleb and I gave Blake his birthday gifts before dinner. I helped Caleb color a card for his daddy. It was pretty cute. Blake got what he asked for, no real surprises. A pair of shorts, a new swimsuit, some t-shirts, and a pair of leather flip flops. I have some ideas for his graduation and Father's Day so I had to save some ideas for later!
