Family trip to the Columbus Zoo. Last as a family of 3!

Blake actually suggested we take a trip as a family of 3 to visit the Columbus Zoo. I was excited to spend some family time and dote on Caleb while he is still an only child. Caleb was beyond excited to go to a new zoo and see animals.
We headed up Tuesday afernoon and checked into a hotel. Caleb of course expected us to be at the zoo right away. We explained that first we would go out to eat and watch a movie in our hotel. He eagerly ordered his on his own at the Olive Garden. "Chocolate milk please." "Macaroni and cheese please." Unfortunately, he was a little too excited at the restaurant and could not sit still. I blame the booster seat in the booth. High chairs are much better for a little boy with ants in his pants! His behavior, having a chest cold, and pregnancy hormones had me almost in tears, but Blake's humor had me laughing in the end. God makes kids cute for a reason. :)Image and video hosting by TinyPic

We enjoyed some fave snacks-gummy worms and popcorn while we watched Finding Nemo. A new movie in a new place was interesting as Caleb kept climbing up and down the king-sized bed.
We were at the zoo right after they opened the next morning ready to see some animals. The Columbus Zoo is very nice. It is arranged by continents and very easy to navigate. Caleb loved petting the goats and sheep.

We also saw many animals that we don't have back in Cincy. Moose, kangaroos, Koalas, and the aquarium full of fish to name a few. It seemed like most of the animals were out and very easy to see as well. Despite being hot, we spent 5 hours exploring. Caleb and I rode the carousel before our lunch break. We also went on a little boat ride. We would have taken Caleb on the train but it was closed.
At 34 weeks pregnant and being under the weather, I did pretty well in the heat. We were all ready to be in an air conditioned car for the ride home though. Caleb was alseep within 10 mintutes!
It was nice to spend special time together before our family grows by one. While I know it will be a huge change and adjustment for us all, I look forward to adding Elizabeth to our family adventures. Hard to believe she will be here in just a few weeks!
