This 4th of July weekend was jam packed with fun as well as some home renovations. Blake decided we needed to get new carpet installed before Elizabeth's arrival. Fortunately, our good friend Doug offered to help Blake with the job. They were able to get the living room done Friday and it turned out great. The carpet seems so luxurious compared to the old, stained berber that was ripped up.
The carpet installation continued all weekend as the guys worked in the mornings and afternoons. Katie came over with sweet little Sarah and the kids got to play a little.
Saturday after a quick nap, I met Stephanie and her mom at a dress shop in Reading. Steph was in town for the weekend and I finally got to hear all about Eddie's proposal and see her georgous ring! She found "the dress" and placed her order. We went out for lunch and caught up. I am so looking forward to her wedding which will take place sometime in the fall of 2011 in San Diego. Time to start saving for that plane ticket! After napping with Caleb, we headed up to Katie's grandma's house to grill out and have a pool party. Caleb was so excited about it that he asked to take his nap so he could wake up and go to the "poo party!" It is amazing how he remembers everything these days. You cannot sneak anythig past him. Caleb had a blast in the pool and wore floaties for the first time. He did great and I am so glad he is not afraid of the water.
We put Caleb to bed in our PNP and were able to enjoy some adult company. I was so craving a margarita, but settled for a fruit smoothie. :)I met my parents the next morning at their church while Blake went home to work on the carpet more. After lunch, Caleb and I went to see Stephanie at her aunt's house. We swam and Stephanie got to play with my big boy! Steph is going to be a great mom someday. And hopefully someday soon!
Sunday night, after Blake and Doug did some more carpet work, we all walked down to watch the Reading fireworks. By we, I mean Blake, Caleb, Doug, Katie, Sarah, Clarke and me. This was Caleb's second time seeing fireworks. He was a little scared of the loudness, but then decided he liked the "pretty colors in the sky." He sat on Blake's lap with his blue blankie. We were all impressed with the fireworks since we decided not to go to the "big ones" in Blue Ash. It was nice to avoid driving and just walk down the street.
Now I am ready to relax and enjoy the new carpet in my house.
